About Chinese Evergreen
A versatile, shade-tolerant indoor plant valued for its attractive foliage and ability to adapt to a range of indoor conditions.
Care Step 1
Place your Chinese Evergreen in low to bright indirect light. Avoid strong, prolonged direct sunlight because it can scorch the leaves. Variegated varieties generally benefit from brighter indirect light to maintain their patterns.
Care Step 2
Water when the top layer of soil feels slightly dry. Water thoroughly until excess water drains from the bottom of the pot, then allow the plant to drain completely.
Care Step 3
Avoid keeping the soil constantly waterlogged. Use a pot with drainage holes and a well-draining indoor potting mix to help maintain a healthy root environment.
Care Step 4
Chinese Evergreen prefers warm indoor conditions and generally performs best away from cold drafts, strong air-conditioning and sudden temperature changes.
Care Step 5
Normal household humidity is usually suitable, although the plant can appreciate additional humidity when the surrounding air is particularly dry.
Care Step 6
Feed during the active growing season with a balanced indoor-plant fertilizer according to the product instructions. Avoid excessive feeding.
Care Step 7
Remove yellow, damaged or aging leaves with clean scissors. Regularly wiping the leaves with a soft, damp cloth can also help keep the foliage clean and attractive.
